Paltech Awarded Multi-Year Contract with the Office of Head Start

08/16/10

The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Paltech a three-year contract to support the Office of Head Start (OHS) through the Head Start Resource Center (HSRC). Pal-Tech has been the contractor for HSRC – previously the National Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Resource Center – since 1996.

Head Start, launched in 1965 – and Early Head Start, established in 1995 – currently offers comprehensive child development services to more than one million low-income children from birth to age five, their families, and pregnant women. As outlined in its recent strategic plan, The Head Start Roadmap to Excellence, OHS is working to improve the school readiness and long-term success of Head Start children. Initiatives include raising expectations and standards for teaching and family engagement, increasing professional development opportunities for Head Start staff, and building integrated systems of early care and education for children birth to age eight at the local, state, and Federal levels.

HSRC will support OHS by providing expertise across all major content areas, and by:

  •  Enhancing communications with grantees and others through electronic newsletters, guides, manuals, reports, Webinars, fact sheets, tip sheets, an image library, and other targeted resources;
  • Assisting in the design, planning, and management of major education and training activities;
  • Offering professional logistics and event planning for meetings nationwide, from small gatherings such as focus groups and roundtables, to regional events, national conferences and major Institutes;
  • Managing Web-based projects;
  • Supporting the Head Start Fellowship program; and
  • Providing OHS with onsite staff dedicated to administrative, program, and budget support; communications; and Training and Technical Assistance.

Now in its 45th year, the Head Start program continues to provide vital services to the nation’s vulnerable children, families, and communities. Paltech is proud to support OHS in this important work.
